Boeing and ULA show off their emergency rocket rescue zipline

From the collection News

Recorded on April 5, 2017.
Boeing and ULA are now testing the new Emergency Egress System for their first crew launches. It’s basically a zipline with a few twists specific to the needs of astronauts leaving a rocket in a hurry. It’s the fastest, simplest, safest way to get clear of danger should anything ever go wrong with a rocket close to launch. Spaceship crew will strap themselves into the seats, and use a brake to control their descent from the rocket. But basically, they’re still ziplining – just like we did across Colorado’s Royal Gorge.
