The COVID-19 shutdown is forcing organizations to expand their on-premises networks with hybrid tools that enable remote work and secure access to corporate assets. Glenn Sullivan leads emerging technologies strategy at privately-held Infoblox, a network security player that serves more than 8,000 customers, including 70% of the Fortune 500.

In his video interview, Sullivan discusses why this expansion into hybrid infrastructure is fueling interest in cloud-native and open-source technologies. A borderless organization defined by software perimeters requires elastic scale to spin up resources whenever needed and get as close to the user as possible. These technologies are key to enabling scale and abstracting away underlying infrastructure is key to simplify the underlying network complexities that are in danger of developing as remote work creates more endpoints and branch locations.

While a user doesn’t have to think about infrastructure services, they are foundational to connecting devices and securing access to assets wherever the user may be. IP addresses connect devices and in tandem with DNS can spot malware attacks and abnormal device queries. Combining these core network services with cloud-native and open-source technologies enable what Infoblox describes as the next level network experience.
