Maryanne Alhallak
Co-founder and CEO, Lumeria
Maryanne Alhallak is the CEO and co-founder of Lumeria (YC S26), the company bringing the multispectral skin imaging used in clinics into people’s homes. Lumeria’s Lumoscope clips onto a phone and pairs with Lumi, an AI skin coach that tracks how your skin changes over time and connects flare-ups to their causes.
A former Syrian refugee, Maryanne published her first book at nine with less than three years of English. She graduated high school at 16 and went on to UC Berkeley, studying bioengineering and economics. By 18 she had built a seven-time award-winning microfluidics device using miniaturized spectroscopy, which she later exited. After volunteering as a surgical assistant in Syria, she founded Blueprints for Pangaea at Berkeley to engineer medical tools for war-torn regions, and she has done strategy work with Flex, Pfizer, and PBS.
She’s also a beauty and lifestyle creator with more than 25 million views across platforms. She first imagined Lumeria while shadowing dermatologists, and at launch it sold out its first batch in under 24 hours and was named by Forbes among the most promising startups in its YC batch.
