Mark Crane

Mark Crane is a Partner at General Catalyst investing in cybersecurity and enterprise companies from seed through growth. He sees cybersecurity as a core tenet of resilience, protecting the physical and digital assets businesses depend on. He also believes good investing requires deep expertise in one field of practice, which is why he has devoted himself to cyber founders at every stage. Before General Catalyst, Mark was a growth investor at JMI and Cove Hill. His respect for entrepreneurs traces back to his own experience as one: as a freshman at Amherst, he started and ran a storage business serving students at area colleges, which was an early lesson in hiring, staying ahead of competitors, and making the numbers work. Outside of work, Mark is passionate about soccer. He captained the Amherst men’s soccer team and still spends his weekends watching matches or on the pitch. He and his family are based in San Francisco.
