Bill Thayer

Bill Thayer leads Bloom Energy’s data center business, working at the intersection of energy infrastructure, power resilience, and the growing demands of AI-driven computing. With more than four decades of leadership experience, he has built and scaled businesses across the energy, technology, and critical infrastructure sectors. A former U.S. Navy officer, Bill held senior leadership roles at APC by Schneider Electric before joining Bloom Energy in 2005, where he helped guide the company’s growth from pre-revenue startup to public company. After serving in executive and advisory roles across the clean energy ecosystem, he rejoined Bloom in 2024 to help shape the company’s strategy for data centers and other mission-critical applications. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island.
